climbing Mateo Mountain Full Day

Itinerary:

Day 1: Huaraz – Tunel (Punta Olimpica) – Mateo summit (5150 m)
We leave from Huaraz at 6 am. Driving to Punta Olimpica, we pass various smaller cities and villages, such as Marcara and Carhuaz. We start our hike before the tunel, going up in the direction of Mateo mountain. Before reaching the glacier, we pass a moraine and then start climbing with 30°to 45°inclination to reach the summit. We enjoy magnificent views over many snow peaked mountains and mountain lakes.
We descend on the same road. 3-4 ascend. 2,5 h descend.
